- Any gender
- Any major
- Any undergraduate level
- GPA of 2.0 or higher
Pi Sigma Epsilon is open to all Applachian State University students that have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher. Freshmen without a standing GPA yet or transfer students are an exception. While PSE is sales and marketing-oriented, all majors are welcome to join. This is because we believe fine-tuned marketing skills are beneficial for any major and career. Students with at least two remaining semesters can join, although it is recommended to join early. Most members admit that they wish they joined sooner to have more opportunities within Pi Sigma Epsilon and to have ample time to participate in everything the organization has to offer.
The Recruitment Process
In order to join PSE, prospective members must go through a recruiting process designed to retain and develop talented people that can contribute to the organization. Recruiting as a group develops team-building qualities that are going to be useful when becoming a member. This process lasts for a large portion of the semester. Prospective members are given certain tasks throughout the semester that will help them grow as a student, business person, and individual. The picture below shows an example of a marketing, sales, and management project the Spring 2019 prospective members planned and executed themselves. In addition to all of this, prospective members are asked to contribute to our usual sales and community service projects (listed below).
Prospective Members and current members are expected to participate in our philanthropic efforts to help our community. We have adopted Hardin Street on campus through the Adopt-A-Street organization in Watauga County. Our members also volunteer at the Watauga County Humane Society.
20th Annual Charity Golf Tournament
Every Spring, Pi Sigma Epsilon hosts a golf tournament. Our members reach out to associates of Appalachian State University, the Boone community, and the surrounding areas for sponsorships. All students, alumni, and community members are encouraged to participate. 50% of all the proceeds are donated to the Grayson C. Huffman Scholarship Foundation, which was created by the parents of one of our beloved brothers who passed in 2014.
Nationals and Regionals
Nationals is a week long conference among all of the chapters of PSE, where members come to network, attend workshops, speak with employers at career fair, attend speaker presentations, attend role-specific training sessions, and compete in various competitions. Regionals provides an abbreviated version of Nationals with regional chapters. It is a much appreciated time to grow our chapters network, develop professionally, and of course, compete against all the other chapters.
Among the tasks listed above, Pi Sigma Epsilon holds many social events throughout the semester. These are great opportunities for prospective members to build stronger bonds with the general brotherhood. We host a semi formal in the mountains in the Fall and a formal at the beach in the Spring. These events will make your time in Pi Sigma Epsilon that much more memorable! Afterall, one of the most important things to us is brotherhood.
